      <image:title>Poetry - Pills for every occasion</image:title>
<image:caption>This painting ‘Take your pills’ is by Pawel Myska who was born in 1977 and was largely inspired by the 1990s growing up. In the United Kingdom, a collective of artists known as the YBAs, or Young British Artists, dominated the artistic culture of the decade. They were a loosely affiliated and diverse group, connected generally by their age and nationality. Many of the members had attended the Royal College of Art and Goldsmiths in London, and were favoured by Charles Saatchi, the ‘super collector’ of art at the time.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Poetry - Passion Out</image:title>
<image:caption>This painting is form the cover of The Second Sex, a 1949 book by the French existentialist Simone de Beauvoir, in which the author discusses the treatment of women throughout history. Beauvoir researched and wrote the book in about 14 months between 1946 and 1949. She published it in two volumes, Facts and Myths and Lived Experience (Les faits et les mythes and L'expérience vécue in French). Some chapters first appeared in Les Temps modernes. One of Beauvoir's best-known books, The Second Sex is often regarded as a major work of feminist philosophy and the starting point of second-wave feminism.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Poetry - The Dilemna of Man</image:title>
<image:caption>This painting is by artists Nop Briex who was born July 10, 1965 in The Netherlands, as Norbert Lambriex. Here are some words from his website: Finding a beautiful composition, subject or visualizing an experience or situation. Color, light, shape, the making process and the final result make me happy. But most of all, through my work I want to make the viewer aware of my moments I had, the places I have been and new images about which I dream. In my work, how simple or complex, the viewer experiences a certain atmosphere that is moving. An impression of that one moment.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Poetry - The Clinic</image:title>
<image:caption>To make her composition Antropofagia , the Brazilian painter Tarsila do Amaral conceived a creative union of two previous works: A Negra (1923) and Abaporu (1928), as if those colossal beings were interdependent, one interconnected to the other. It is impossible to understand this work through a conventional reading, the one that is made in the analysis of details. The observer must choose another conceptual level, since the two crude forms, presented by the artist, refer to the state to the primitive.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Poetry - Some walk the streets</image:title>
<image:caption>This painting is by Marten Jansen. Here is an outtake from his autobiography… “I was born on September 12th, 1964, in Naarden, The Netherlands and grew up in Bussum, a suburb of Amsterdam. I moved to Amsterdam in 1983, to study economics at the University of Amsterdam. In 1998 I made a series of semi-abstract female portraits (inspired by Picasso and Corot), then in 2003 I began to paint in a social realism style, which only now I’m beginning to feel comfortable with. The social realism is inspired by photo-journalism, the painter Daumier and also by Munch, to an extent, and by Rembrandt and Rubens (for the way they brought “drama” to painting). In a general artistic sense Mahler and Bach (the composers) have also been of influence.”</image:caption>
