Closing the door after the horse has bolted, I feel really pissed that NZ missed the boat in the late '70's early '80's - a door wide open in PC software now usurped by PC politics and the rhetoric of the "get rich quick" advisory clique and the always late academia.

Having consciously lived out of Auckland and the corporate life for reasons of family and marriage stability, I return there, as I did from overseas in 1981, to take on the city with a new vision for apartment development. The market had been dead from 1998, and fresh untainted enthusiasm is what I saw as being needed. Then the trials of a now outsider descend upon me from the legal, financial and tax boys. Architect, Engineer, Construction and Planning brilliant. Council like slow old women. Rotting homes syndrome exposed, so my decision for concrete prophetic.
