A Chance Encounter
That day and night at Duck Creek,
Pauanui; Go-Karts, and Buggies
Fun and laughter round the barbecue.
Seemed to you like the times of old -
Kindred spirits in action packed pursuits.
Seven years have gone now, yet
We talked a few times on the phone.
Vividly I rrecall your exquisite beauty
How you bought the wine
My crew and your children having fun
And we chatting for some time.
My Mum is now ninety-nine
I'd love for you to meet her
So sweet she is - the parallel drawn.
We last talked after "Coast to Coast
My Michelle having finished it.
How I yearned to stay for lunch
Share with you your dyslexia work
Your conquering those hard yards
And yet, myself perplexed, could have
But would not my soul express.
Now I would!
Woe begone those selfish rhymes!
Shed all that nagging nostalgic bit!
How are you and how are yours?
Time we met again, I say.
Time for catching up again.
The spirit in our families lives on.
